Ipod upset.Advice anyone?

Hi folks,
I bought an ipod on e-bay on Sunday from a guy. I paid £250 ish and paid via paypal. Today I had an e-mail from e-bay saying his account has been stopped and to put in a claim from paypal. Then tonight the dude e-mails me and says that his account has been closed for "a couple of days" and we will receive it hopefully by Saturday. Always had a good e-bay experience up to now and not sure what to do.

Ha! the man has now e-mailed back saying he doesn't know why he's been removed from e-bay, that he has 14 odd people asking the same question and that he will send the ipod out as soon as its delivered to him!?? as in, he doesn't have it now?!!!

If he doesn't have the ipods then he shouldn't have been selling them so perhaps that is why he has been NARUd.

Protect yourself, start a paypal chargeback, you can always cancel it if you get the ipod.

I think thats what I shall have to do. Paypal wasn't letting me earlier, is there a time limet before you can start a chargeback?
The guy actually seems kosher, to be honest so I want to give him a chance, but better safe than sorry.

Pepperami - he may seem Kosher, but don't let him deceive you. There are some very clever scammers out there. Did it look like he had the ipod in stock in the auction? Do you have a link to the auction?

If this is a scam, which I hope it isn't, the scammer would make around £3,500. Hopefully he wont be able to touch this if his Paypal account has been stopped. There must be a reason why he has been suspended though. What was his feedback?

What I am trying to say is don't trust anyone, especially when £250 of your hard earned cash is at stake. He will probably tell you 1000 lies to try and look "kosher".

Get that chargeback started and contact eBay to ask what is going on.

I am keenly aware of scammers, my girlfreind made the bid and he had good feedback, but only for buying. I cant direct you to the link as it has been withdrawn by e-bay.
I will start the chargeback immeadiately and cancel if it comes good.
He said that he told us he was waiting for them to be delivered, but he didnt, so if he told someone else, maybe they reported him and thats why he was suspended, like soo said earlier.
When I said I thought he might be kosher, it didnt mean i dont want to de-limb him, just hopeful thinking.
Strangley, paypal wouldn't let me process a claim against the paypal number earlier. I'll try again.

Let us know what happens.

As you say this could be a genuine guy as people can be suspended temporarily for all sorts of minor infringements, but the important thing is that you protect yourself, as you have done so, just in case.

Paypal e-mailed and asked me to call them today. After the standard 15 minutes of elevator music they took my details and said "watch this space..."
and believe you and me, I will.
Its nice to have cool people like Josh and Soo who can help just by putting my mind at rest. I hope I might "pay it forward" sometime.
