Hello, I'm a wildlife adviser and live in South West Scotland.

    Wow - that sounds interesting!
Hi all, I'm a Healthcare Assistant in a Stroke Rehabilitation Unit but I have just finished my MSc and I'm trying to find a new job.
Are you staying in Healthcare, or changing completely? :)

Ah - see Megan - you're my hero lol You've got the best of both worlds!
As I said above, I really do admire stay at home mums - i'd love to be able to do it (well, i would when he was younger lol) but it just drove me potty - then I was torn between wanting to stay at home with him, but needing to get away from the house and go to work.
I went back to work but was made to feel terribly guilty for leaving my baby with a childminder :(
I eventually learned to embrace the fact that we're all different, and just because i needed to work, which helped to make me into a better mum, didn't make me a bad person or a bad mum - just we're all different, and we should embrace difference!

Crikey - that was deep for a lighthearted thread!!

I've worked in the public sector, they never pay well lol having said that - i moved to the charity sector which also doesn't pay well! lol something about "every penny spent is a penny donated by the public" lol
At least you've got somebody to help pay for it :rotfl:

Thanks nickki. When my older botmys were little I was on my own. I went to university and held down 4 jobs. I never saw them. I swore I wouldn't do it again. Since I had my little 2 were born we have been constantly skint, but it's worth it. I've always got a plan on the go too! Megan

Ooo - I was the same - well nearly - When i started uni (full time course) Sept 2004, I went part time at work because I had 2 boys (5 & 16) at home, a house to run & pets, and I was on my own with no help from their dad at all. when I wasn't at uni, or at work, I was on the laptop completing assignments and writing my thesis!!
In Feb 2007, I had to finish uni with a 16 week, full time, unpaid placement (otherwise I couldn't qualify), so had to finish at work.

Despite working my whole life, I didn't qualify for income support (because I was working!) nor for tax credits (because I was unpaid!) so my only income was to be child benefit, my student loan and maintenance, and I still had a house to run and children to feed!
I met my now hubby :D in April 2007, and he moved in with me in May 2007 to help with finances (bless him!)! He offered, and I had no choice but to accept. I hated the first few months, because I hated being dependent on him and having to ask for money
Luckily - it all worked out and I was able to support him when he was made redundant (and he hated being dependent on me and asking for money!)

Crikey - thats more information than I was planning on sharing lol

johannalf88 - lol - A good moan is good for you!!

Sometimes things have to get really hard Nickki before the goodcomes along. I don't think I would have appreciated my OH and how amazing he is unless I had been through such a tough time. My OH came on the scene, didn't give up hope of getting a date with me, even though it took 5 months for me to agree! Then when we finally did get together he always treated my children as his own. His philosophy was they are part of the woman he loves and we came as a package.

Aw - mine too Megan - part of the reason i married him!

No matter how much i loved someone - if my son (oldest one doesn't live at home anymore) and he didn't get on, then it couldn't happen.
With my ex, he was always my son
with my husband - he is our son (eben though he calls him his name, and not dad). he is a father figure to him and they love each other... puts the icing on my very fantabulous cake :D

My oldest (blind and autistic, 23, and lives in supported living) does call him dad, because he says he is more of a dad to him that his dad ever has been. Damien can be VERY difficult (because of his autism, not his choice) but Bob has always been very patient and very genuine with him. couldn't ask for more!
Matthew is easy to love - he's a good kid, loves football & fighting, ut damien is a challenge, and Bob met that challenge because he loves me, and loving me means loving my children
