Reading the teachers and teaching assistants thread got me wondering what everybody else does for a living?
I live in West Yorkshire, work for Guide Dogs as a Mobility Instructor (no point me starting a thread, think i'd be the only one on it! lol)
I work full time, and am lucky enough to LOVE my job (wen i'm not home on the sick with whooping cough!!) - though I would love to be able to afford to work a 4 day week!!
Over to you ladies - what do you do to earn the money to pay for your weddings :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Nickki, hope you're on the mend hun!
I am currently a lowly shop assistant (albeit in a very nice boutique!), but with ambitions in Art History.

Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

White Sapphire - There is nothing lowly about shop assistants!!
and i'm sure you get staff discount
and there is plenty of time to realise your ambitions! I was an office administrator for over 10 years before I decided to go to university to qualify (in June 2007 at 36 years old!) for the job I REALLY wanted (and have never been happier!)
I am improving thanks - feeling less like an invalid, and starting to do little chores
Sick note runs out on boxing day, so i'm thinking that it will be easy to get back to work whist it's quiet and build up - it's completely knocked all my stuffing out of me, and i've got a physical job!
xx

Hadley - excellent - I do some work with the planning teams in my area (5 local authorities!), making sure they've thought about the VI access - as it's easier to incorporate it before building commences that to change it retrospectively!

I was the same - I really admire stay at home mums, because I just couldn't do it! I took my 9 months leave with my 2nd (now 12) and was more than ready to go back to work!
I love being a mum - but I love working too, and having conversations with people that don't include family or homelife!!
I firmly believe that working makes me a better mum
and the money comes in handy too!!
i'd love to be able to afford to drop to a 4 day week, but i've got an overdraft to pay off (blooming wedding! lol)
