Not sure about the chemist as I've never tried that, but if you have diabetes and go to a regular diabetes clinic at your local hospital or doctor's surgery, they will very likely be able to sort you out with free blood testers / injection pens / etc. I've had type 1 diabetes since 1986 (5 years old) and have never paid any diabetes-related equipment. Sometimes it's hard to turn the stuff down, they're so desperate to give it away!

Which reminds me: it's time to test and do my night time injection!
