Out of interest, have you driven it on truly flat tarmac? Cars DO pull to the left because of the camber of the road. some are worse affected than others. You need a long flat bit of tarmac to really find out if the car truly "pulls" or if it's just the slope of the road. You can also try a bit of road where it's safe to drive in the middle along the crown of the road, but that can be hard to judge.

I did wonder this and have tried driving in the middle of the road etc and it is less obvious but does still pull left.

Has the car ever been involved in an accident? I agree with Stephen Leak 4 wheel tracking / alignment is the only way you will find out for sure.

Yes, last winter in the snow I crashed into a road sign. Slight damage was sustained to reg plate and offside headlight.

If the tyres were unevenly worn when the tracking was checked, a good garage would have not adjusted it because a soon as you replace the affected tyre(s), chances are the tracking will be out again, albeit probably not as severely as before.

The tyre was replaced before tracking was done. I did go to a place that does the 4 wheels computerised. At the time he said the offside rear wheel was out slightly as well as the nearside front. He realigned both.

Track rod ends had to be loosened by a garage before wheel alignment could be done - not sure if this affects anything. I don't know anything about cars so as for the suggestions of what might be wrong - do I just go to a garage and ask them to check bushes/ball joints?

Just to clarify, car has been to 2 different alignment places - 1st one 4 wheel computerised, 2nd 2 wheel, no computer.
