I need to change my surname to my father name, just wondering if this site is authentic and would be accepted by banks and other organizations.

Just seems to be a page that will link you to other sites, one link I clicked on sent me to a site for some ugg type boots. Please don't use this site. I changed via deed poll years ago through a solicitor. Other advice will be coming I am sure.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.

Cost £10 for mine, but I believe u can actually do it free, you just need the right wording.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Try the deed poll website so you know it's authentic. It costs £33 for an adult. Plus extra if you want certified copies (which is what I did) because it was easier to get my name changed on all my paperwork. We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240

Please note that the UK Deed Poll Service is a private company out to make a profit on something that you can do yourself (a bit like PPI reclaim companies). There is nothing that they produce that is more 'authentic' than anything you can do yourself
See http://www.deedpoll.org.uk/IsADeedPollRegisteredAnywhere.html from their own siteThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Under English law it is legal to change your name without drawing up any formal record,
but it does make things easier if you do
If you would prefer the reassurance of something more official than a site on the internet contact the Citizens Advice Bureau or ask the Solicitor who is asking for £50
There is no need to pay anything for A CHANGE OF NAME DEED
For a woman, a decree absolute and a copy marriage certificte is all you would ever need to change your name.
If you speak to your local Registrars Office, they will confirm that a deed poll obtained from an internet site or a solictor irrispective of the cost, anything from £free - £100 is of no more value than something you do yourself.
Its sad hearing people who have been fleeced of their money in the belief that it's 'official'. Its just a very nice piece of paper!
The templates are easy enough to find but I can fully understand that, through a company or solicitor, people feel more reassured that it's 'proper'. But what is Proper. There is no official record.
What is important is obtaining ID in your chosen name. Doctors, Schools, Employers should have no objection in accepting written notification of yourself. There is no reason why someone can't change their name, whenever they want. Many people do. You need to apply to the DVLA & the passport office. If you ever need to prove that you are the same person as that named on your birth certificate, a Change of Name Deed, issued by yourself and witnessed by 2 friends is perfectly acceptable.
It should be remembered that there is no official Government record of a Deed Poll from ANY company to be found on the Internet nor Solicitor.
quoted:-
Deed Polls are not registered anywhere unless they are "enrolled" i.e. lodged for safe keeping, in the Close Rolls of the Chancery (from 1851 to 1902) and from 1903, in the Enrolment Books of the Supreme Court of Judicature, which is located within the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, London. After about five years, the court's enrolled Deed Poll records are transferred to the National Archives, which is situated in Kew, Surrey. The National Archives contain Deed Poll records going back to 1851
Deed Polls issued by the Courts and entered in this way are very rare. Very few people apply for them.
For a woman, a decree absolute and a copy marriage certificate is all you would ever need to change your name to the one you had previously.
I am not going to post any links because I am not affiliated to anyone nor wish to enter into any debate. The information is easy enough to find if you dont look at sites trying to sell you a service.0 -

Don't want to ask why you would need to, so just for your information:
If he is not named on your birth certificate already - he can be added regardless of your age.
regardless of your age now, DNA testing can produce authority to detail him as father on your birth certificate, regardless of who is named already.
If he is your stepfather and is married to your mum, he can be named on your marriage certificate0 -
I did it for free this year. My whole name, firstname and surname. Ok so it cost to get my passport but it needed renewing anyway. Once I had a digital passport my driving licence was easy. My bank photocopied the stat dec and gave me a new card. With those things, everything else was easy. I used the wording on this website - printed it on nice paper - got it witnessed. And it was all fine! http://www.gorge.org/experiences/deedpoll.shtml0
