Help. How to deal with a private parking ticket.

I’m posting this on behalf of my Dad, who received a ticket in person from a private parking enforcement company. (He’s nearly 70 and could do without the stress)

He parked in their car park and went to get some change for the machine. 4 minutes later he returned to find the parking attendant ticketing his car. He took the £100 ticket and left.

It transpires that the attendant put the wrong time on the ticket (but still recorded it at 4 mins).

My dad is a blue badge holder, but no disabled spaces were available.

What now?
He hasn’t paid the fine, and he has had his appeal rejected by the company. Now he has asked them to confirm the date and time of the offence.

I said to leave it.

If they take you to court, prove (somehow?) that you were not in the car park at the time on the ticket, and that you are a blue badge holder getting change etc and see what happens.

Do these companies actually take anyone to court?

Cheers in advance.

Ignore them ..which company is it out of interest ?

They can't win this in court and they know it , so ignore all the stupid threats they will send.

    Which company is it.

Try looking for them in this forum and the letter chain sticky so you can show your dad what to expect.

Then, in virtually all cases, you need to impress on him that the best course of action is to IGNORE!

Oh and he should re-read his Blue Badge handbook - Where it makes it wuite clear that the BB scheme/regs do not apply on private property :)

once or twice, but they normally loose .
read all the stickies and start educating your dad.
warn him he will need around £150-£200 to pay the ticket as it is a scam and they come back for more money in late payment charges.

We understand that he was parked on private land, but that he was getting change for the meter, and a £100 fine for 4 minutes is excessive.
Also, the attendant got the time wrong on the ticket....

    Well known jokers - ignore.
  • Thanks for the information. We found the company on the letter chain sticky. We have received exactly the same letters so far.
It’s interesting to note that this car park is on the grounds of a church. It would be interesting to see what they think of how their car park operators deal with the public.

So, for sure, just to re-enforce to my Dad, despite the fact he was parked in their car park, he is safe to ignore their letters, and no bailiff’s (Debt enforcers – In their words) are going to come knocking?
The letters are very convincing, and threatening.
    Cheers

Sorry but I can't agree, when you really read the words 'we may do this', 'we may do that' woolly rubbish - no they are not convincing. They may well be threatenting but the letters are templated rubbish as you have seen from the top thread. I have ignored a PPC debt collector letter-chain and I am just an ordinary law-abiding Mum. Nothing happens, it's a SCAM.

Did you and your Dad see the Watchdog video linked to 'welcome, please read before posting' when you read the sticky info threads before posting? If not then watch it now to see a solicitor's opinion - Tim Cary knows what he is talking about.

And no, someone who alleges you owe money cannot just send the boys round! No bailiffs can just come round!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No one will knock at your dads door, this system is simply a postal exercise to try to intimidate people into paying. You will receive the usual letter chain then they will do one!
In your dads case they don't have any claim at all as he paid for parking!
