Car Insurance NCB Question

Options
Hello all,

I have 1 years NCB so far on paper from my previous years insurance and with my current about to expire next month, should be my 2nd but there has been much confusion as I have not been driving for 2 years yet (including provisionally)

Explained as simply as I can ....

The policies overlapped by 3 months while I bought a new car (March 2010- March 2011) and (Jan 2011 - Jan 2012) in which time I purchased a new insurance policy, rather than transfering it. I kept the old car until the insurance expired and sold it on, never having made a claim on either.
Will insurance brokers accept this? I know I will have to speak to someone closer to the renewal date as all comparison sites through back an error saying I cannot have 2 years NCB when driving for less than 2 years - yet I have held 2 policies without claiming.

Whether this is something that is up to the broker, could it be used to my advantage to get a better deal?

To avoid confusion - this is NOT a "can I use NCB on 2 cars thread" - as google keeps throwing back at me!

I have had 2 cars - 2 full running policies - no claims.
Thanks in advance,

/confused

If this years renewal says you have 2 years then you have 2 years however if due to the fact you changed cars mid-policy then your renewal 'may' only state 1 year.

It's all down to the written proof you have to send in.

You cannot really add 2 six months periods to make 1 year ( for example ) , it's how many full years proof you have.

I can't see how you could get two full years. To get a second year you need to start with one year at the beggining which you didn't, so unless there is some special "bonus" offer, you won't have 2 years NCD. You need a renewal notice with it written on.
Of course there is nothing stopping any insurer deciding to give you a discount.
  • I have the first years proof on paper, but started the current insurance (with a different company) before it arrived so as far as they think, I have 0 years NCB.

Will 1 + 1 make 2 seeing as they overlapped by 3 months and I havent been driving for 2 years yet?

As lisyloo says, I don't think so, as I said, it all depends on what your next renewal states because that is what you will have to send in to prove what you've got.

You will just have to wait until the renewal comes and accept whatever it says.
