Who should maintain a company vehicle

What is expected by an employer and what is legally binding contractually are two different things.
My sister has a company car yet doesn't know a dip stick from her elbow.
She is employed as a sales lady and not for her mechanical knowledge, however simple basic checks are.
The firm are happy with that, there is no obligation on her to make any basic checks, however, she is aware that her vehicle has to be roadworthy to use. Any problem and she goes to a garage, even for a bulb change.
There are hundreds and thousands of drivers like this and it is up to the employer whether or not they employ people with a bit of savvy.
Don't tell me VOSA go chasing everyone driving a company vehicle.
How ridiculous.0 -
Personally I think the true answer is .............
It is a company vehicle and the driver didn't give a sh.. about it
I see it in work everyday
there are i think 6 vehicles almost exactly the same age as mine in work
my vehicle is washed minimum of every 2 weeks
saw one today of the same age and it is filthy to say the least ,when I said to the driver jokingly
Wouldn't think these 2 vans are the same age would you ?
driver told me fu.. em it aint mine it ain't been cleaned / washed for 3 years
apart from quick wipe over the windows when they were so dirty when i couldn't see out !!0
