What this is all about?

'Companionship at Christmas' helps older people combat loneliness over the festive period, and is run by the Abbeyfield charity.
Sign up for free Christmas dinners and overnight stays at around 120 participating houses in England and Wales between 24 Dec - 4 Jan if you’re over 55, alone over Christmas, and currently living independently.

How do I take part?
[/title]
To find a participating house, or if you know someone in your local community who's at risk of having a lonely Christmas who might like to get involved, call 0845 052 3553, or check the Abbeyfield website for more details.

I am looking for an ethical and reliable place to live during the later part of my life. I have heard some bad stories about commercialy run organisations.
Some interesting options at

Does anyone have any knowledge of Abbeyfield?!0 -
These are things the government should be jumping on. It can pretty much kill 2 birds with one stone.
They have young people who are keen to learn cooking come in and help out and learn skills, as well provide information at face value on local help through the winter time, saving money on other means of communication0
