GunJack's suggestion that your PC contains fish seems somewhat fanciful and the noise they make is more of a flapping sound than a clunking sound.

    if I had said fish, the OP wouldn't have known I meant c r a p ;):):D

I'm now on my laptop. I took everything apart earlier cleaned everything out inside the case, I cleaned out the processor heatsink the other day when it started messing about. The only fan in there is the one on the processor which has a speed controller on the front panel of the case. While I had the lid off I made sure everything was plugged in properly and all the cables were tight. I have also uninstalled a few things that didn't seem to be working right. I'll see what happens tomorrow. Still don't know what is clunking but it sounded like a disc drive but it seems to have stopped doing it. TBH the thing doesn't owe me anything I got the motherboard, processor, graphix cerd and some of the RAM off a mate for £30 about 4 years ago. Me tight.

Oh yea there are 2 other fans one in the PSU and another on the case, the chip set and the graphix card just have big heat sinks, there is room for 2 more case fans.
Nothing to see here, move along.

you could run it without the side panel, just to confirm if it's a heat issue...

Well I don’t imagine the OP has been taking a dump in his computer.

I know Vista sucked, Ballmer’s mad and you Windows people are weird, but that’s taking it a bit far.

My bet is it’s honey. His bees have been getting in through the vents. Plays havoc with the hard drive; the fans blow it around everywhere. Seen it many times. Makes everything inside horribly sticky. Apple has an app to prevent this.

    several things.....

1.(C)Rapport is a known issue, slows lots of computers down to a crawl/crashes/BSODs/etc. - get shut of it.

    2. Ad-Aware is next tot useless, bin it.

    3. MyWebSearch is known spyware, get shut if you can from add/remove programs and do a full Malwarebytes scan to pick up the rest of it.

    4. torrents and other un-needed stuff running on startup - use CCleaner's Tools > Startup to disable them, like

    Running processes:
    N:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe
    N:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe
