Going to buy a new laptop - should I wait till after Xmas/January sales?

I get paid on December 21st and will be a buying a laptop, £350 is my budget really.

Should I wait till the sales? Or will that make no difference?
May be a silly question, but I always thought at sales time they jack up the price just before sales and discount them back to normal year round prices or negligably less?

Thoughts guys?

I'd wait until just after the new year. Sometimes you can find some great deals in smaller stores online at this time.

Also, take a look at sites like gumtree - you can find latops with receipts, boxed etc but just a few weeks old etc after the buyer has realised they'd prefer an ipad etc and then decided to sell a perfectly good laptop :-)

Theres forums about were they discuss the big manufactures range changes (for want of a better saying, upgrades and new models come out) and i think i remember september being a good time for laptops, could be completely wrong though, generally any laptop you buy now for £500 will be £300 in 6 months, so doesnt really matter when you buy, just know as soon as youve bought it 6 months later it will be substantially cheaper or youll be able to get a much better model for the same price. but yeh why not jan sales is a good a time as any.

as for inflating the prices, yeh most do it just be a bite more savvy shop around.

I find ebays daily/weekly deals is full of loads of fantasticly cheap little laptops with guarantees etc, worth a look

Check ebay next week for unwanted christmas presents You may get a far better deal than from a store

Good idea lads, I think I will check ebay in the next few weeks and then see what happens in the Jan sales if nothing takes my fancy online...
