painting kitchen doors

Hi
can someone give advice what's the best way to paint kitchen unit doors,
they are the old type ones, with the silver metal at the bottom doors have no handles, hope you know what ones i am talking about, any advice on what to use to paint the metal part so they are all the same colour as the doors.

you need to make sure that the doors are free of grease and nice and clean http://www.homecareessentials.co.uk/acatalog/Cleaning_Degreasing.html

the surface will need a sand down , 120grade paper will be on on wood , if plastic surface use 140grade ,
give them a coat of zinsser primer http://www.zinsseruk.com/shop/Product.aspx?cId=130&pgId=355 , for wood or the b i n primer for plastic http://www.zinsseruk.com/shop/Product.aspx?cId=130&pgId=355 , then i would finish it off with dulux waterbased satinwood
i wouldn't bother painting the metal bits - the paint will wear off
