Hi all - after a bit of advice - I accepted 'help' on varnishing my new interior doors as I have 11 to do & they are needing 4 coats of clear varnish on each - anyway after 'help' left discovered that the 1st door they did has left the bevelled glass smeared with dried clear varnish - its a polyurethane varnish -what is the best way of me getting this off, is there a cleaning solution I can buy? many thanx

A paint scraper (razer blade) is the best thing to remove dried paint or varnish from smooth glass....but careful of your fingers!0

This happened to me when we did our doors recently,I used the finest steel wool you can buy,I dont know the number but its something like 0000,cost about £2.95 anyone in the diy shop would tell you the number to get and rubbed it gently and it brought it all off. It's the stuff french polishers finish off with so although its abrasive its very gentle.0

You should be fine with a non scratch scouring pad - the sort you clean (believe it or not!
) non scratch pans etc with. It's abrasive enough to remove paint/varnish etc but not enough to scratch the glass. Use some warm water and wash up liquid too.
Or the knife blade as mentioned above.0 -
thank you both - some good ideas there which I will definately try0
