Car Insur: Can i insure a car i dont own ?

IE:
If i am not the registered owner or legal keeper of the car, can i still insure it?

To lay it out as such, its a case of:
My boss is selling me his car, and loaning me the money at the same time, so i pay him back over 2 years.....
however, whilst an agreement is in place, he said he would keep the car in his name, so he would be registered owner and keeper.....

Can i still insure that car ? and if so, would it be likely that the premuim would be a bit higher due to me not being the owner/keeper, etc ? :)

  • You can insure any vehicle you have a financial interest in, given you'll be responsible for looking after the car then you do have one. Really it is no different to if you lease a car.

That said, not all insurers will sell you insurance unless you have certain relationships with the legal owner of the vehicle
