Boiler reset switch - worcester 24i

Options
Hi. I have a quick question about the reset switch on a Worcester 24i combi.
A copper wire runs from the burner housing to the reset switch. This wire has been snapped and rejoined by twisting it together. Im assuming this simply is temperature sensitive and so as long as the two ends of the copper wire touch in some way the temperature will still flow.
Can anyone please confirm this. The ignitor is not firing up and I trying to eliminate possible faults.

Many thanks

  • If its not called a wire, what would you call it?

It's possibly a thermocouple, but that's a really 'dodgy' way of repairing it! It needs to be replaced. Especially a safety critical component that regulates the temperature.

If you are not Gas Safe Registered, find somebody who is to repair it.

He doesn't have to be GSR to DIY gas work on his own boiler provided he is competant and knows what he is doing with that particular make/model.

Oh yes, on reflection perhaps he should get someone in.

    Cheers

Correct me, but I thought you had to be Gas Safe Registered to work on any gas appliance regardless of whether you were competent or not?

    Fixed it for you.

Yes but you won't get that Gas Safe Registration unless and until you prove yourself to be competent.Cheers

  • Hi.

Do not, ever, override a safety device.

    GSR.
