.....................Once again, for all those saying go to court, let me remind you, the car is 7 years old. No small claims court judge in the world is going to find against Honda, because A) it is so far out of warranty as to be laughable,
the contract is not with Honda, it is with the dealer.
You could take the dealer to court, but all they did was tell you that the cambelt needed changing and they changed it. I can't remember the service schedule, but I believe a cambelt should be changed before 7 years, even if your mileage is low.
I don't think many people would be laughed at for the dealer incorrectly telling them only the belt needed changing, then having the tensioner go within three months of the work being done.
If is reasonable to expect the advice to be competent, and if they don't recommend the tensioner being changed, it would again be reasonable to expect them to inspect it, and assess that it will indeed last until the next scheduled belt change.
Either way, they have not given the advice that you would expect from a competent person, (even with a seven year old car, which really has no bearing on their advice.)
For the record, I would never just change a belt, full kit with water pump, or nothing.0
