Insurance - Informing of existing conditions?

I've gone through several pet insurance applications to the point of the payment screens and not one has asked about previous conditions during the process.
Don't insurers generally ask about existing conditions?

They've probably got a get out clause in the small print.
Out of interest I just went into tesco insurance to put mutt in, and on the "assumptions" page before you start the quote it says
"if your pet is currently ill, injured or showing signs of illness, injury or being unwell or has been this way before you can still arrange insurance. However, you will not be able to claim under any section of insurance for anything that relates to, results from or is connected in any way to your pet’s medical history. "
So I would guess that all the others have something similar tucked away somewhere where they're basically excluding everything that's gone before. If you've got pre-existing conditions or anything you're not sure about I would strongly advise you to give them a ring to check exactly where you stand rather than doing it on-line. Otherwise you might invalidate your insurance.
Is this for Harley and his colitis? How's he doing at the moment? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

No when you claim on the insurance, they get the medical records from the vet and will deny your claim if you try to claim against anything in the records from before the insurance.0 -

He's grand at the moment, thanks. Hasn't had a bout in ages thankfully, but we're still always strict with his food just in case.
We did buy him a doggy advent calendar but he doesn't get the treat every day, just now and then.
Yes, he still isn't insured after the Halifax fiasco and we really need to get something in place. I expected to have to input loads of details when applying online, but there wasn't any questions at all about previous or existing conditions and that really surprised me.0 -
I think it must depend on the insurer - I've just switched my cats over to PetPlan and as I was progessing through the quote I had to enter details of any existing/previous conditions (a bit like when you do your car / house insurance and have to detail any claims.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
