Holiday Insurance !!!!!!

My wife booked a trip for us to go to madrid for my birthday but she couldnt travel due to getting neumothorax the day before we were due to go. Flights booked with easyjet and hotel through hotels.com. When we come to claim we were told the excess was per person, wont make that mistake again and we needed a letter from the doctor stating she couldnt travel due to medical reasons. They have now asked us for letters from easyjet and the hotel proving we didnt travel and stay. Is this right as i cannot see a low cost airline having that information available.
The claim has already lost £300 excess and £25 doctors letter so after that all we are claiming for is £70! and the holiday cost us £420!

It is normal for them to ask for conformation that you didn't actually go on the holiday otherwise someone may get a GP letter saying not fit to fly and yet decide to go anyway.
It would be a big concern if an airline were unable to say who was on a plane at any one time or not!!0 -
Hi
Back in Jan this year, we had to cancel a trip to Venice that our sons had got us for our 60th birthdays. About 4 days before departure, my wife's back went.
The trip was, like yours, booked via eJet for the flights, and expedia for hotel.
I claimed off our annual travel insurance (free with bank account) and had to provide similar "evidence" to you.
The eJet bit was a bit difficult, as I had not booked it myself but after numerous emails, they provided a suitable letter. Expedia provided a letter confirming we had not used the hotel.
It cost me £20 to get a doctor's letter and we too had the excess deducted for both of us.0 -
yeah i have had some trouble trying to get the information from easyjet. I will have to keep chasing then if it worked for you. Just seems to be as if they are doing all they can to not pay out, at the end of the day they knew the circumstances from the original call so why didnt they mention it then. Insurance isnt really worth it for weekends away but need to have it if only for medical expenses and i think they know that which is why they are awkward. Never had this much trouble with house or car insurance.0

Do you honestly expect them to payout without evidence?
Of course an airline will know exactly who's on which airplane.
I don't think the insurers are being awkward at all.
If easyjet are being difficult then that is not the fault of the insurer.0
