re-selling Poundland stock

Just a quick query - There was a guy down at our local car-boot today with a stall chock full of Poundland stock.
He had taken the time to cross out the word "Poundland" with a marker, or had cut it out on some items. Others were there for all to see.
My question is, this stuff is currently available in Poundland (I'm a regular MSE!!) but he was selling things for 2-3 times that.
Is he doing anything wrong, or just being quite savvy?
We will be doing some carboots when the weather gets nicer, and this seems like a good way to fill out the stall next to our useless junk!!

If anyone's daft enough to buy it with poundland written all over it, goodluck to him.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I wouldn't recommend doing it - what happens if your stuck with it?! People might not be as thick as they sometimes look at car boots! lol.0

Today i bought 5 santa hats for pets for 10p each at poundstretcher. Not a huge outlay but it is the first time i have speculated to accumulate and it is quite a big risk for me. I'm going to keep them till christmas and hope for a huge boom in the novelty pet wear market:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! Well you only need to sell 'em for 15p each to make 50%...0

If only i could get some one like Paris Hilton to popularize them. they'd be a bidding frenzy in that case:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T0

When Hypervalue went out of business here in Wales, I made an absolute killing on ebay with their stuff. Paid for Christmas easily...With all of my dietary restrictions, I'm left with lipstick and water0

if anywhere is still selling off xmas decorations, I would say look for anything brown/bronze or purple for next xmas.
we went to the spring trade fair at the nec yesterday and there were loads of brown xmas trees! lots of purple themes as well, looks like black trees are going out as I didn't see any.
we don't sell any xmassy things but we spent more time in the festive section than in toys where we should have been, the xmas displays were just stunning.
we had great fun by going up to a supplier that refused to deal with us when we started up, and embarrassing the hell out of them:D , he couldn't apologise enough but then tried to defend his actions by saying how cautious suppliers have to be , to which we replied that there were 3 other companies within 50 feet of him that were only too happy to supply us:rotfl: . evil, but very good fun!"There is a light that never goes out"0 -
Not doing anything wrong if he's declaring to the taxman etc, which he ought to if he's buying specifically to resell. Whether it's advisable is another matter; sounds a bit risky to me. One thing that is likely to make a profit at car boot sales is watch batteries, which can be bought in multipacks from £1 shops then sold individually, You'll be left with some in less common sizes that you can't shift, but it's still worth a go.Lots of people sell old watches without batteries at boot slaes, so there's a market for the batteries to go with them.fat_jedi wrote:
