Hello all,
Just a really quick one, I am putting in a cheque tomorrow for someone with a Natwest account, with Xmas over the weekend etc I was wondering when people feel it will clear so I can let him know?

It's a few years since I dealt with cheque clearing but I think the money should be available to withdraw by Saturday, although there is still the possibility of reversal for 2 more business days, which would be the following Thursday.0

Usually when I put a cheque into my natwest account, if I put it in on a Monday, for example, I can access the funds on a Wednesday, but I understand that at this point it hasn't technically cleared for a few days after this.0

well i put a cheque in on wednesday i think it was 2 days later it was available for me, this was a cheque from the tax man (yes i know the taxman giving me money)
i was told up to 7 days
But i wouldnt bank on it taking 2 days just in case, but i should be clear by friday if you put it in tomorrow0 -
Thanks for all the replies, was not the end of the world either way was just wondering as the Natwest site says if you put it in Monday you would have access Friday but a lot people said it would be sooner

It works on the 2-4-6 principle. Has done since Nov 2007.
2 days - starts receiving interest
4 days - funds available
6 days - cleared irrevocably unless fraud involved.
But - some Banks will allow the '4' bit to happen earlier depending on value etcIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
