Options
Hello all,

Just a really quick one, I am putting in a cheque tomorrow for someone with a Natwest account, with Xmas over the weekend etc I was wondering when people feel it will clear so I can let him know?

It's a few years since I dealt with cheque clearing but I think the money should be available to withdraw by Saturday, although there is still the possibility of reversal for 2 more business days, which would be the following Thursday.

Usually when I put a cheque into my natwest account, if I put it in on a Monday, for example, I can access the funds on a Wednesday, but I understand that at this point it hasn't technically cleared for a few days after this.

It works on the 2-4-6 principle. Has done since Nov 2007.

2 days - starts receiving interest
    4 days - funds available
6 days - cleared irrevocably unless fraud involved.

But - some Banks will allow the '4' bit to happen earlier depending on value etc
