thankyou every one for posting and showing me that i should have said "how often would/do you do these jobs?"
being a complete housework novice (if it realy needs doing OH will do it) i wasnt sure how often to do jobs
i'd copied down Moggins(thanks for the inspiration) list for last week and decided to copy that and thought that there was some room on wednesday and thursday to do some extra work(eg curtains) but wasnt sure how often to do things
i have a very house proud friend living close and i was thinking of keeping up with the jones's but listening to all your advise/comments/exclamations/shock horror at what i was going to do ive decided to NOT keep up with the jones's and do it steady and nice
thankyou for bearing with me and not making me feel a fool for thinking those jobs needed to be done monthlyi have an intermittant connection so sorry if i dont reply straight away

And people on this thread are talking about washing curtains once a MONTH! :embarasse
Oh I hope it wasn't my ( embarrassingly long ) post that made you feel like that! I've no intention in the long term of spending more than an hour a day cleaning and tidying. In a nutshell I'm just trying to streamline stuff so I can free up more time to do the better things in life ( as in the poem! ) I hope I didn't come across as overzealous or disapproving, it does make me feel better to see the surfaces shiny and sparkly but I know everyone feels differently & I've no problem at all with people not dusting. I couldn't agree more that there are more pleasant ways to spend your time. I'm hoping I will end up with the best of both worlds though - eventually. By the way, confession time - I have never washed any curtains in my life ( a quick run over them with the brush on the hoover every 6 months or so is about it! )0 -

Thanks, very helpful to have the amount of time you've estimated. I just look at the list of tasks and think OMG I can realistically only manage 30mins cleaning in the evening after coming home from work knackered (and often it's just 2 or 3 five minute efforts interspersed with couch zonks!)0 -
