Returning Discounted Items

Its so frustrating at this time of year when you see things dramatically drop in price after you've bought them, and often even a week before xmas.
If theres a reasonable amount of money involved Ive often bought the item again, but then returned it with the original, dearer receipt.
Does anyone else do this? Could a retailer deny the refund if they you were doing this?

Thankfully a lot of big retailers have a no quibble 30 day returns so long as items are in unused condition.
Asos would be an example. About £55 worth of presents are currently in the sale at around £30!! So I've bought the items again and I'll return them with the £55 delivery note...0 -
I did it with toys at Argos last year.0

I dont do it on cheap things- but like I say often asos dramatically drop their prices and with free returns its only too easy to do it!0
