My OH has ezcema. He scratches himself till he bleeds at night and we wake up with spots of blood when he has scratched himself
I have tried Persil, Ariel, Fairy and Asda's own brand Non Bios (no difference)
What is the best stuff natural or shop bought for excema please? I hate seeing him like this.

Surcare is good. Also might be worth looking at changing shower gels and making sure he moisturises before bed. Aveeno cream is very good or shea butter.0

I used soap nuts for my DD. And also ended up buying all in one sleep suits with buttons at the back and integrated gloves so she couldn't scratch overnight.
Although her eczema was triggered by a milk protein intolerance and once that was discovered, it was easy to control other stuff and things like washing soap became less important.0 -
Ecover is the most natural laundry product I could find. I only buy when it's on offer, the full price is expensive, but worth it in my case (allergies in my family, not eczema, though)0

its totally trial and error. and you can become allergic to anything at any point. i used to be allergic to daz now its all i use. my dad was very allergic to persil but now is allergic to daz and uses persil with no problems at all.0

Cor the million dollar question.
I can't touch many products even ariel which my mum always used years ago.
My love to you both as remember doing the midnight baths and sitting naked and scraping with a comb (still got the scars).
I've had all the treatments and creams and eventually gave up (couldn't afford the prescriptions) and when I did things got a lot better (give of take the almighty flareups).
My poor no.1 son is sadly following me and is carefull about products, especially cotton.
Very much trial and error, but I find that own brands are the best and recently found surecare washing up liquid which is wonderful and good value
Best tip I can offer is to be careful about rinsing.

My Mom who has bad eczema also uses Surcare - I would also suggest adding an extra rinse to the cycle to make sure you've got as much of the detergent out of the bedlinen as possible. Are you washing bedlinen and towels at 60? Any lower won't kill the house dust mites which are usually the culprits if your itching is worse at night. My Mom also showers before bed rather than in the morning so she is going to bed clean and keeping the bed as clean as possible - everything being cotton and using mattress & pillow protectors should also help - good luck!0

I have really irritated and sensitive skin & I always go back to Bold. I find fabric conditioners, especially Comfort to be very unsuitable for skin conditions.0

Another vote for Surcare! (I find about 50ml per wash is enough.)
I'd also second the recommendation about doing an extra rinse, - according to the washerhelp website most modern washing machines (even the better make ones) aren't that good at rinsing because they're designed these days to use as little water as possible.0 -
I agree with doing an extra rinse, especially underwear & towels.0

Thanks for all the advice here. I will watch out for surecare and give it a go.I have only used Fairy for years since dd12 was a few months old and started getting eczema.
DD4 is nowhere near as bad as I used the '4 day rule' when weaning, so prevented a lot of unnecessary eczema in the first place.
I will see if my WM has an extra rinse option.Never thought of that one!!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D
