Most businesses simply contribute to the economy, but banks actually control the economy - there is no similarity between the two

Retail Banking is a small, historical, part of banking activity

I see your point Trucker. Retail banking is a completely differnt beast to business investment and should be treated as such.

Retail lending is 3 times the size of that of Corporate lending in the UK.

So why, when I phone my bank, do I have to sit in a queue for 20 minutes at my own expense, rather than getting invited out to an expensive lunch?

Bung a few hundred grand in and they will talk to you straight away, put a million in and they will invite you out for lunch. It's very classless.

The reason banks are so well "protected" by the Government is because they pay such an incredible amount of tax.

If the Government !!!!ed of the big banks too much they would just move out the country and the tax revenue would plummet.

I really don't understand why so many people are not only happy and willing to pay their monthly dues to the Banking Industry, but are actually quite aggressive in defending the rights of the Banks to demand such dues

After the last two posts, I just thought I'd repeat the original post

Companies do have different mechanisms at their disposal to raise capital finance. Unlike consumers many are not debt junkies.
