How To Copy A DVD

A couple of months ago I bought an exercise package. There are 15 dvds in total. Unfortunately two of the discs wont work on my dvd player but will work on my pc  :o

I want to know how to copy the two discs onto dvds, to see if they will work in my dvd player.

What software do I need? I have a couple of dvd+r discs - are they suitable?

Thanks in advance,

Debbie

Download free trial (30 day fully functioning) of DVDfab if you only need to do the 2 discs.

NB, although frustrating, even though you own the discs, technically, it is illegal to copy them.

The blank discs you have should be fine

This isn't always the case as many licence agreements allow you to make one copy of a disk for backup purposes.
(Microsoft is one example of a company that allows this to be done)
  • The size of the DVD's could be an issue for DVD+R's. If they are more than a single layer DVD then they won't fit. Copy the files to your hard drive and check how much room they take up. 4482MiB(4.378GiB) on XP or 4700MB (4.7GB) on Windows 7 maximum for a DVD+R disk.

You might need a Dual layer disk.

if your PC have recording function.you can just use your pc and another new DVD to get a new one, that is not difficult.

Thanks guys for your help. I used a tutorial on youtube which showed how to copy the dvds. They used dvdshrink and dvd decrypt

The good news it worked for one of the discs :j Unfortunately I keep getting an error message for the second one:

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

    Failed to read file "G:\"

    Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

Not sure if this means the dvd is too badly damaged - very frustrating as it got to 90% before the error message came up.

I've downloaded DVD Fab but its given me a list of options to try. Should I try DVD Copy or DVD Ripper?

Select DVD Copy. Make sure the 'quality' box at the bottom of the screen is set to 'DVD 5'.This will make sure the program 'shrinks' the original DVD to fit on your standard blank disc.

It takes a bit longer to do this, just leave it running and go and have a brew!
