Parking Eye

My girlfriend and I overstayed the 90 minutes "free parking" at Aldi by 32 minutes (we had genuinely been shopping there) and she now has a ticket for £70 reduced to £40 if we pay immediately)
Its her car so she has received the letter. I'm keen to fight, but she just wants to pay.
How can I get Parking Eye to deal with me, other than admit I was driving at the time (shes the registered keeper)
Ive read on this forum that you shouldnt admit to being the driver, but if I dont she will receive all the threatning letters. Im beginning to think we should just pay up for an easy life.

You don't deal with them, you IGNORE Parking Eye completely!
The PE scam letter chain is fully detailed in the letter chain sticky. Show your GF that so she knows what to expect and get on with your lives without worrying.

Thank you. I'm new to this, am I right in thinking she will receive a string of ever more threatning letters, with mounting charges and notice of impending court action and you say she should simply do nothing? For how long will they harrass her? I'm up for a fight BUT the letters will be addressed to her and she will have sleepless nights. I'm not joking. How can I get it all deflected on to me so that I can ignore them? I just think that £40 might be worth paying for an easy life.0

This is a scam and your girlfriend will probably be asked for more money after being told that she was too late paying her parking charge and has lost the early settlement discount. Giving into these scammers will enable them to stay in business and scam people who simply do not have the money to pay this pondlife. I have ignored ParkingEye several times and guess what? A big fat zilch!Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

OK, first of all read the sticky threads by Crabman called 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting'. Sit down with your gf and watch the Watchdog video linked on that 2nd sticky thread to learn what a scam this is. Really, this is not a fine and must NOT be paid.
Stickies are at the top of this sub forum, just click the end of the blue 'Home>forums>Home&Play>...'etc. link at the top of this page now. That takes you straight back to the index of all the current threads here on this board; stickies at the top.
Make sure she knows that if you pay you have been had, and also that you would then be funding the scam on the next few people. Not a good thing to do, even for an easy life!
If - after watching Watchdog and checking out the letter pics - she would still rather that the letters had your name on (even though she can see they are scam template computerised threatograms, and could just play snap with them by comparing each one against the pics in our top sticky) THEN yes, I would say write and say you were driving.
That's what I offered to do when an elderly acquaintance got a ticket in Dunelm Mill for daring to take too long. But in fact it was solved by other friends going into the store and COMPLAINING about the treatment of an elderly customer. Dunelm Mill got the fake PCN cancelled so the old lady didn't get any threatograms.
So firstly, why not try calmly but very firmly complaining to the Aldi store manager for continuing to allow the same protection racket to take place at Christmas as happens in that car park the rest of the year. Complain that they have not allowed extra time - or called off the scam during December when the store is at its busiest. Maybe show some receipts to prove you are regular customers and are horrified by this treatment!
If Aldi do not cancel the fake PCN then make it clear they have lost your business. And then write to the PPC and tell them you were driving - with no other info or admissions about the parking situation or time taken, or whether signs were seen etc.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If she wants to pay tell her to budget for around £175-£225.
They dont go away you know if you pay them.
They will come back for late payment charges which will be the full charge as the discount is removed, then a further charge of £75 plus an extra admin charge of £50, then they may even try for another late payment charge, Christmas post and all that.
So if she is budgeting £40, she is making a huge mistake, these are scamsters and once they get their claws in to her bank account they will be back.
I would suggest she follows the advice to ignore them and all the silly bluffing fake court and debt collector letters they send .
it is a scam of impersonation of authority.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
It's a free car-park therefore the damages suffered by the landowner are zero. Ignore Parking Eye & ignore that branch of Aldi0

But should we either do absolutely nothing, ignore all threats and wait for them to stop writing to my girlfriend or should I send one of the template letters on this website saying I was driving then they will "come after me", which is ok
The advice is a little contradictory.0 -
Love it :money:ignore ignore ignore IGNORE the filthy scumbags spred the word .. i do ALLWAYS :rotfl:PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

Re-read what I advised, I gave you a first option of complaining to Aldi. Worth a try, it has worked for others.
No-one is wrong in the advice on this thread because you and your gf really should read the stickies and watch the Watchdog video so that you have the confidence to ignore the fake PCN and letters. Everyone here is saying 'ignore it' because we KNOW it works (I have ignored a fake PCN myself and I am just a law-abiding Mum).
What is confusing you I think is the template letters elsewhere on this website - but if I told you they were 3 years old would that help explain the apparent 'contradiction'? The template letters are attached to a very OLD article by Martin Lewis, whereas here you are getting live, current advice on the forum.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes.
Yes - The less communication there is, the quicker they give-up and move on to some other mug who thinks their toilet paper means something.
You can get all her post diverted to you and go from there. PE and their ilk always go after the RK and don't play by the rules. Save your fighting spirit for something that really matters, these jokers don't.
