Options
hi
does anyone have any experience of or know of any insurers who provide young driver car ins that will come in at less than 3.5k!

its for my son in law whos 23 held licence for just under a yr and has family ect, his grandad is giving him his car at xmas as he can no longer drive its an old dawoo and only worth about 400 quid but all quotes are really extortionate cant find one under 3.5k a yr which is ludicrous!
self confessed 80's throwback:D

Try putting yourself on as a NAMED driver on HIS policy .. Not illegal, and when i added my father to my policy (Im 25) it almost halfed the policy.

Also try to Occupation changer thingy that's on here. That does help, not a great deal..

Strange things now tho.. It was cheaper for my to insure my car for 5000 miles, as oposed to 2000 miles..
Cheaper to have it on the driveway as opposed to in a garage..
Cheaper to have SDP+Commuting, than just SDP.
    Almost..debt free.. :P:money:
  • £3,500 for car insurance on a car worth £400 is just frightening!!Ridiculous!
I wonder why there are so many people driving around with no insurance??
When i was 17 just passed my test,my insurance for a Mini was £75 a year fully comp, and that was in the 80's!Totally ludicrous!!!
Money does not bring happiness...but if you are already happy it does bloody help! :rotfl:

That's the sort of figure I remember as well. 1725cc Hillman Hunter, twin carbs, no problem when I was 17. Soon moved up to to 3.5 litre V8 SD1.
  • Its seems hard to try and find a specified price as there are so many factors that go into the price. Dont dismiss the big ones like admiral and aviva, they are worth a try, but there are some specific young driver brokers such as adrianflux, only young drivers & endsleigh
it seems a pain to ring lots of companies but hopeully it will pay off
