How far back can I claim?

Sorry if this has been asked before (a newbie here) but how far back can I claim on a loan?
I took one with my then husband approx 1998 with Abbey National and I know that we took PPI only because we were told we couldn't have the loan without it (young and gullible).

So my questions are:
Can I claim back that far?
Can I claim if I'm not with my ex husband anymore as the loan was in joint names (we no longer speak)

If the above is that I can, do I need to complete a SAR?
Many Thanks

  • You may have problems proving the cover existed if no records now exist.

Similarly you may have problems proving it was missold even if you can prove it existed.

In addition, unless the policy was yours alone and you personally paid all the premiums (which would not be the case if it was a single premium added to the loan) then there will need to be a joint discharge of any claim against Santander. Without that they will not redress you and it is unlikely that FOS would consider the complaint.
