Declining a credit card

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for an Egg card to take advantage of the 0% interest offer on balance transfers. However, I would be looking for an amount of about #10K. . . . If I apply for the card and they offer me a lower amount which wouldn't be of any use, does it effect my credit rating if I turn them down and decline their credit card ?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but there is the possibility that if someone did a manual credit check on you for any reason in the next say 3-6 months after that, and they saw a search but no card opened, they could make the assumption they declined you.

I was declined for a couple of cards recently, and appealed against the decisions figuring I've had the search done now, I might as well try and get the card. Worked on one card, and it will be getting closed when the 0% runs out, which should improve my rating further.
