Meters can and do fail, unless you let the supplier know, they have no way of knowing until the next scheduled read.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Hi,

I wouldn't tear it up, least not until things are sorted.

As it is the money has been taken from you account and refunded, if you tear it up, it doesn't put it back in, you would need to pay it into your bank, and send a new cheque.

Fair enough but the acid test is not what the woman said but how and when the refund is re-credited back to your energy account. Something else to bottom tomorrow.
  • An update - I phoned this morning and the person I spoke to this time was pretty good, and above all quite reassuring in that he stressed that I should not worry, enjoy xmas and when the meters get swapped over in Jan they'll work out an average, based upon previous periods and taking into account the severe winter last two years. Just as some of the posters here have said, and as well as that he did say it would probably work in my favour. So again thankyou all for your help and advice. I must admit, I've somewhat cranked up the electric heaters today. I have a warmer house :) which is unusual at this time of year!
