    Don't be so dismissive - I bought a digital vernier caliper direct from China for £1.32 , the exact product sells for £32 at a national supplier.

    I've bought a whole range of different wires from various shops and even online over the years. I've paid a range of prices too. So far none have appeared to have any faults or fail early, my experience so far seems to be that cable is all about as good as any other.

    What you do need to watch out for is ready made appliance leads, there's quite a few out there with dangerous plugs and other issues. This won't apply to buying just cable however.
