Am I entitled to housing benefits?

Hi all,
Me and my fiance are looking to move out. Her parents have recently split and shes currently living with her mother. They are having to sell the house and split the costs. This does not leave them with much but they are both entitled to retirement properties...
...any ways long story short, this leaves my missus with no where to live.
I currently live with my parents as I'm a student but am having to pack in to make some £££ to help fund a move. Come January I'm setting up as a freelance designer and not expecting much income for the first year...
My missus is also a part-time student and works 14 hours a week on minimum wage. She is in her last year of studies.
Will we be entitled to housing benefits or any other benefits that can help us out?!
Thanks for reading and hope you can help!

From what you've said, at the moment yes. Also council tax benefit as well. No idea how old you are but you may be entitled to working tax credit depending on how many hours you work as well but that would have an impact on HB/CTB. In short you'll get something but what pot it comes from is a different story.
Also get in contact with Business Link to see if there are any grants available to help your new startup.
Good luck with the business and the move. BTW, get used to having to leave the toilet seat down

If you're not expecting much income would it not be best to stay on as a student, get a part time job and live off your loans and wages? If she is in her last year you only have about 6 months till someone is bringing in a full time wage.0

cant she move in with you at your parents until you both manage to save a bit of money? you'd still need to furnish a house etc and have a deposit, all costs money!0

Thanks for all your replies and advice. I will look into business link.
I'm actually only at university once a week, and tried balancing both uni and freelance work but found it too difficult.
Before starting uni I had my own flat and have now lost what was my bedroom at my parents to my younger brother and his girl... the room im in now can only fit a single bed.... and is not ideal.
Cheers again for the advice and will look further into it!

Really?!? I'm quite shocked by that as most of the students I know all study and work at the very least a part time job!
If you only have a short time left on your course, it would make more sense to see it through to the end, otherwise it's just a waste.
Can your GF not look for a house share for at least the next year until your both in a better position financialy?0 -
LOL! Yeah really! I like to be thorough. Yeah could consider a house share... Good Shout! Cheers!0

Don't know why you're shocked -depends on the course load and timetabling and even the particular university's policy -there's a handful who frown on students working. I don't know any recent students who managed a first with working too-there's a compromise to be made there for sure.
The rest of your post I completely agree with though
