Amazon and faulty goods!!

Really hacked off!! :mad: I purchased a Michigan chopping board for £70 from Amazon last April to go with my brand new 'state of the art' kitchen! Now the bloody thing has split in FOUR places!!! If i bought it from a shop I would return it but does anybody know if I can do this with Amazon? I looked at their returns policy and it does not say anything about returning items after 30 days from purchase!
Can somebody help me please!!!
Ps I paid by credit card does this mean I have some protection from the cc company???

Wow a £70 chopping board!
I would think after this length of time you would have to take it up with the manufacturers.
Also I don't think your CC company would be interested as I think they would only offer cover for 90 days.2014 Target;

You still have the same rights as if you bought it from a shop. I did return a defective item to Amazon a while back, in fact they sent me a replacement before I returned the dead one - and they paid the carriage !
I've had a look on their web site and I can't see how I did it then ! The returns bit on the site seems just to cover stuff within their 30 period.
Give them a ring.0 -
I take it it's a wooden chopping board? if so you are supposed to oil them every couple of months to stop them from splitting, if this is the case and you have not oiled it then it will become your fault and not the manufacturer.0

You still have rights under the Sale of Goods Act against Amazon, same as if you had bought it in a shop.
The Sale of Goods Act states that goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for all normal purposes and as described. If the goods have broken through no fault of your own, then you can argue that they are not of satisfactory quality or fit for their purpose and you would have expected them to have lasted far longer than 10 months for the price you paid.
They should repair or replace it in the first instance (I would guess replace).
I recently returned something to Amazon using their website's "we will ring you" function. I did get a call straight away, though I was sent to an automated menu. I couldn't find what I wanted in the automated menu so I pressed lots of random buttons on my phone and got put through to a person :rotfl: Was all sorted quite fast.0 -
