Myonlypost, I'm a coeliac as well and was around about 14 years ago when various coeliac groups were pushing for better labelling so we didn't have to check every thing we bought against a central register.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You have my sincere commiserations. My daughters have been diagnosed early enough that they will grow up not remembering what real bread, pizza, cakes, biscuits etc taste like. Many of the coeliac alternatives aren't too bad, pasta and sausages being 2 I can think of but other things such as the bread aren't very nice at all, as you will know. Also what many people don't see is it is so expensive. Virtually everything has to be premium brand as cheap ketchup, cheap burgers, cheap gravy etc all contain gluten. Is there a board on here for money saving tips for coelaic sufferers?
If you live near a big city then Asda & Tesco do an Ok range of gluten free foods, but out here in the 'burbs they carry maybe 10 things across the entire range. My 8 year old has had fish fingers & sausages for the first time in her life this year!It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -

I'll PM you rather than take this Off topic, but M and S do some OK things sometimes- although as soon as they bring out something really nice it disappears from the shelves again. A dedicated coeliac thread on one of the shopping boards here on MSE would be a great idea though to keep watch for new items or stuff likely to be discontinued.
I find Christmas a bit miserable, all those adverts and nothing we can eat. Also of course no Christmas meals out with work mates as we can't eat the turkey (restauarants tend to buy pre stuffed and the stuffing has gluten) no gravy, sometimes no potatoes as again caterers often store portatoes in flour to crisp them up and stop them sticking. No mince pies no pud, no cake.
I always feel it is harder on the younger children as they are so often seen as being 'difficult' by other parents because they can't eat any party food and have to be catered for seperately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wouldn't sell home made food on eBay. If you manage to posion someone (possible no matter how hygenic you think you are being) you open yourself up to a major headache and prosecution. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0
