Hey Guys,

I'm pretty new to London and need a bit of advice if you all would be so kind

Basically I'm having an operation on March 1st in central london and need to get back to Kingston on the same day.

Taxi is the only option due to the nature of my surgery so does anybody know any good companies or anything like this? Don't really want to get ripped off with the prices!

Cheers

Depends what you want - a black cab will cost more but definately be safe if you are female. There will be plenty of mini-cabs companies in your Kingston yellow pages who would be happy to do a pickup from central london and this "should" be cheaper than a black cab. The other choice is that the hospital itself usually has mini-cab numbers at reception/next to banks of payphones at the entrance and you could always book a collection from one of those. A quick phone-around and gathering of quotes will enable you to feel out what the price should be -and I usually go for the middle of the range quote rather than the cheapest! To give you an example, for two of us from Hammersmith to Waterloo station (so pretty much across teh whole of central london) at 7am in the morning was £14. The only problem you'll have is that Kingston is south of the river which is why you may be better off getting a Kingston mini-cab to collect you at the hospital rather than a central london mini-cab co to take you out to Kingston. I would think it would cost £20-30 at a guess.
