Car Insurance Renewal help?

Options
Hi just had our renewal through and it is £150 dearer than last year.
Last year was £458 and now its £600, we have 6 years NCD drive less than 8000 miles and drive an 05 1.25 fiesta. Wife is 26 and im 31, policy is in her name but i am main driver.

Is it normal to increase this much and can you try to knock then down over the phone?

Have you done all the online comparison websites and phone all the local insurance brokers in your area?

If not you NEED to.... Only then will you find out how good the renewal price is. My insurance was £300 ish with direct line
then they wated nearly £500 the following year.

Got quotes around the low £300 mark, Phoned them to cancel and they said they will match it as i had been a customer for about 10 years
with no claims. When i phoned back to pay they actually beat the price slightly.

Following year huge price hike again but this time they wouldnt offer any discounts at all. Still claim free.

Insurance due in Jan and i did a quote the other day, They now want £1100. Double most other quotes.

Did you buy from an insurer or broker that has year one discounting?
or do you live in a high risk area or are a high risk driver?

Low risk areas/individuals have seen little or no increase over the year. High risk has seen significant increases. Often year two increases are more to do with the initial discount vanishing.
