Can my landlord do anything if I decide to change from pre-payment to direct debit? We only have electricity and its charging us a fortune plus being nearly nine months pregnant and going out in the freezing weather is not much fun

No, although they may try.
It might be worth speaking to them before you do it, and agree to have the PPM put back in before you leave.
If changing the meter involves moving cupboards then I'd definitely discuss it with them first.0 -
You can change supplier, but changing to credit metering may breach your STA.
A PPM costs the same as the supplier's Standard tariff.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
