funnily enough, there was plenty of !!! (spoken and a bit visible) in Death Becomes Her.0 -
Some films might need a bit of censorship since those brilliant actors can put any line across and make it seem acceptable.
When I first listened properly and heard the Spock one my jaw dropped. I found it hard to believe what I heard.
Don't worry though, we are perfectly safe. Those censors know more stuff than any of us. That's why I had to write a s s with spaces in.It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0 -

Yes ive noticed this too but thought maybe they had cut some of the show to make it possible to be airded in the afternoon.0 -

You can bet your ass on that. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I'm not cross, just perplexed. Is it my age making me notice these things, or have broadcasters become somewhat more lax when it comes to broadcast times?
Yes it's broadcasters being lax and yes it's your age making you notice.;)
The first time I watched the Inbetweeners, I was surprised at myself for being so repulsed by the language and sexual references. I still found it very funny in parts but 20 years ago I'd have laughed my head off at all of it without a second thought.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

One theory I've had with regards to MM bein on during the day, and also with...erm.... how to put it.....
If you ever go to the higher reaches of freesat and happen across stuff like babestation, the harlots are usually cavorting about around lunch time, but not after school gets out, and I think they come back in the evening.
I assumed it was because if kids are old enough to be affected, then they SHOULD be at school at those times. On a saturday around christmas though, the kids will probably be at home.... ack my friends and I should have riffed on babestation come to think of it, that's always good for a laugh.0 -
As a child the many hours I spent playing Super Mario... my Mum stopped me and send me out into the world and I found myself continually jumping on turtles and eating mushrooms in an attempt to grow by 10x0

Taste and decency are funny things. I too watched 'Death becomes her' thinking along the same lines. A few things struck a chord:
1: Merlin of Saturday night had a raging sword battle - yet being pre watershed there was absolutely no blood, save for a scratch.
2: The Simpson's often show Itchy & Scratchy inserts that contain cartoon violence, but then they cut other parts out of the main episode to avoid offence
3: The last season of Torchwood was edited for the UK market to remove all the graphical gay sex scenes with John Barrowman, but these were left in for the supposedly prudish US market
4: Nearly all music videos are now soft !!!!!! - perhaps to support an ailing music industry?
5: It is now, apparently, a criminal offence to buy an 18 game/dvd for a child under that age. With grandparents and parents just buying what kids are asking for it is probably fair to say that many are now regularly comitting criminal acts as a result.
6: There is a kids TV program called 'The Slammer' which is set in a prison and portrays it as a place of fun and entertainment.
7: Many 12/15/18 things shown pre-watershed are edited to hell - some so bad key parts are lost.
I don't really know where the line in the sand should be drawn, tastes and attitudes vary so much. About the only thing that really bothers me is the over sexualisation of Children. When you have kids as young as ten spending an hour and a half doing their hair before they go to school, and worrying how their bums and boobs look, I think we have a problem.0 -

You mean there was even more graphic gay sex than we were shown?
I would have thought that quite difficult without getting into hard-core territory.
Which channel was it shown on in the US? As it was shown here on the most popular TV channel before 11:00pm I dare say they had certain constraints. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Yep - some Americans were calling us a nation of homophobes.

I watched both the UK and the US version on Starz and it had much more 'content' on the latter.0
