  • Sorry Vicky, I'm also confused about why you need to pay extra for internet for studying on top of your line rental/internet charges (I would understand if you didn't have these - but don't see how they can ask you to pay that much each month).

What does the dongle do? (I have one but it doesn't cost me any extra on top of my ISP charges @ £10.99)

I'm also confused that if the TV/internet/landline split down into roughly £15 / month each (as above) - why does the internet charge in your SOA say £34 / month?

please ingnore SOA got confused by it ok - hense why broke down each our outgoings - dongle is at uni - no cant get help with fees - pet care 5 month left

Does your uni not have wifi? Can you not get a cheaper dongle?
    What are your rentals for?

nope - and only got 6 or 7 month to pay on it then i cancel it
rental for tv and dishwasher got 7 months left on both
  • Ahhhh, sorry I didn't get that from your OP:o

I know how difficult it's to get help with Uni fees - currently trying to do the final year of my Degree but just don't have the £3.5k to do it:eek:.

If you can both get shot of the mobiles as soon as the contracts finish & switch to PAYG that will be a big saving ..... and def pop over to the Old Style Board and have a look at the Grocery Challenge:)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!
  • On the positive side .... in 6/7 months things should be a lot easier (pet care will have finished, rentals, dongle etc) - as you'll have over £100 extra.

Do you have any debts? Or even an overdraft? If you are short each month then where is that money eating into?

Don't think you need to be 100% with you SOA... I've taken months to get my 99% perfect and it still requires some odd tweaks.

Are you tracking your spend to see if that is actually what you are spending or is it a rough guide. How are you doing based on that SOA this month?

Can you not surrender them early?

The first thing you need to do is cancel the GP DMP and go with a free service. Making cuts to your monthly spends will then cut your deficit down.
  • Hi Vicky. :)
I think, if you want, you should be able to cancel the pet care immediately. I know I have done so previously, as it simply means your covere ends immediately. Probably there will not be any penalties for doing so.

whether you want, or should, cancel is your choice. Without the help of a chrystal ball it is a very difficult decision. I have had three dogs and three cats enjoy their lives as part of my family. I have had several periods of insurance cover and never been able to use it due to all the costs falling below the 'excess' level:mad:

Have a think about it, it really has to be your decision.

  • Hi vicky,

Have you asked the open university for financial help? I got my fees paid when i did my degree and i got a small grant each year. It would be worth seeing if you qualify.
