Possible passport problems?

Hi, I’ve just booked a late deal holiday in Lanzarote for seven days from the 08/02 –15/02.
I have been told that your passport has got to be valid for at least 6 months after your planned date of return in certain countries!
My passport expires on the 04/07 leaving me 11 days over the 6 months if this is applicable to the Canary Islands.
Can anyone help?

I believe that the six month rule applies to most places.0

My partner's passport runs out on the 13th of Feb and we were in Paris for a few days last week. The only thing that was said at any time was at check in on the way back when the check in girl reminded her to renew it if she was flying again soon.
I think you'd be ok in the EU but not outwith, best to check and find out anyway.0 -
Thanks for your help.
I've got to confirm with the Spanish Embassy in the morning.0 -

I don't know who spreads this stupid misinformation about 6 months validity on passports. It applies to VERY few countries. Certainly not the EU - if you look at the Spanish Embassy web site you will see that all you require, even if you need a visa, is a valid passport.
If you think about it, you can go to any EU country and stay as long as you like, so the country you are entering has no idea how long you are intending to stay anyway ! The only problem you might have is getting back into the UK - and strictly speaking you don't actually need a passport to do that, just proof that you are a UK citizen with right of abode.
It doesn't apply to the US either - I've just been through this on another thread !0 -
If anyone is interested.
British passports (as well as passports from the EU, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland) are required to be valid during the duration of the visit.
You do not need a minimum of validity in your passport to travel to Spain.
You can travel to Spain as long as the passport is valid.
Any children included in the passport must be under 16 years of age.
