seller won't combine postage

I have bid on some t shirts all from same seller and asked if postage can be combined if I win. The seller has said no. Fair enough, that's up to them. But if I win then I will want them to sent in separate packages as I don't see why the seller should make a saving on postage if they are all going in the same package, and not pass part of this saving on to me. Am i right to insist on this? I know at the end of the day they can send them however they like, but would a neg be justified if they didn't do this? This is only t shirts we're talking about so not like there's any good reason for the seller not to combine postage, but obviously they are prioritising their profits over customer satisfaction. Ideally I would have asked the seller about combining postage before I bid, but as I have already bid now it's too late.

You cannot insist on them being sent separately and you cannot force the seller to combine postage. You can however exercise your right to mark the postage cost DSR as you see fit and leave feedback which accurately reflects your experienceIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0

I don't think it is possible to insist- but you should be able to un combine the invoice so you make 4 seperate payments which might be worth doing as a matter of principle if they decline combined postage. Also that way you can say 'I have paid seperately so they can be sent in seperate parcels'.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Seller said if I did not like her postage charges I could retract my bids. So I have. Her loss.0

i think that you ought to send her a message saying that you expect the items to arrive separately, don't mention anything about feedback tho, that could be considered feedback extortion0

The seller is not obliged to post items separately. Making such demands is as idiotic as me demanding Marks & Spencer send my items separately because I have decided the prices they are charging are not fair but decided to buy from them anyway. The sensible thing has been done here. You do not want to pay the price being asked so don't bid. You asked for a reduction but were refused so don't bid (or in this case retracted you bid). The way auctions should work. I suspect the seller doesn't see it as a loss though more a stroke of luck.0

Why is it many people seem to realise that they don't like the charges for P&P AFTER they bid?
I have read so many of similar circumstances on here and people getting narky because the P&P is too high..surely this is something you check before and ask if combined postage is a option before you bid?? ...I would hate to be a seller and get happy to see a item being bid for then have that bidder emailing asking all awkward questions then ending up retracting bids..what a faff!5lb a Month Challenge 2012:j

Corrrect me if I am wrong here, but I thought that according to ebay rules you aren't supposed to make a profit on postage. So sending me three items together and charging the same as if sent separately would mean the seller was profiting on postage (I understand that for some items it may not make much of a difference to send together but for this particular item it would.) So why am I not allowed to not like it if the seller is making an excessive profit on the postage but not passing this saving (or part of it) on to me, the buyer? I realise I should have asked before I bid, so lesson learnt there, but I was genuinely suprised the seller would not combine postage on this, when I sell I always combine postage unless there is a genuinely good reason why I can't, and in this case the seller was obviously just wanting to make money out of the situation. OK so we are all in it to make money, but if ebay say that postage costs should reflect the actual costs then surely the seller is in the wrong here. I hope she loses stars for postage charges its just a shame I will not have a chance to provide any feedback on that now.0 -
Not necessarily. They might have the right size packaging for the item separately, but in order to pack 3 together they need to go out and buy some specially and as they only need it once/quickly won't be able to get the cheapest deals.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

For 3 plain cotton tshirts???
They might even be able to send one on its own as a "large letter" and the price can jump considerably when you have to send it as a parcel.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
