Renault clio dynamique 1.2 16v 2001 petrol.

the engine light is eluminated and ive search the net regarding this problem. Now there are lots of clio sufferers with this problem, and it looks like Renault dont even know the solution.

lots of people say throttle body, some say accelorater sencor and some say wiring harness.

Lots of surrerers have spent loads and still have not solved the problem. Now one person has said that by changing the 'wiring harness' solved his problem. Ive had a quick search on ebay for a clio wiring harness but to be honest not sure which is the right one.

Can some one direct me to the correct harness that needs changing. As these only cost around a fivers its worth a go rather than spending £300 on a throttle body and 200 ish for the sencors. At least I can get the throttle body removed and cleaned and again the sencors can be cleaned rather than buying parts that do not fix the problem

Also, are there any other Clio owners out there who have suffered this throttle issue.

Baiscally the light comes on the dash and the revs are not right. its an intermittent problem but its happening more often than not. I would like to hear from any other clio owner that has succesfully stopped this peoblem as on the internet there are loads who are pulling their hair out.

Know what you mean as I have an immobiliser problem that hundreds of other Clio owners have had before as well and nobody seems to know the way to fix it either.

But the first thing to do here is read the fault code - have you done that? It could be something simple like an O2 sensor, I changed the pre-cat one on my Clio as the engine light was coming on.
  • fly by wire VDO thottle body's tent to get gunked up in oil residue, this tents to build up on the air temp and flow sensor preventing it doing its job correctly, causes are hesitations and slow throttle repospone and idle speeds irratic, all renault VDO units have stepper motors, this is your throttle position sensor plus ecu comumication of the VDO units operation. their a !!!!!! for failure some have poor seals allowing water to ingress into the VDO coms unit (the black unit on the side of the throttle)wich can cause low idle and cold start stalling or no idle unless you hold at 200orpm for 30 second and reduce slowly, and starting the car with foot on accellerator. a good clean out, with carb cleaner, assess the VDO unit on the side by taking it appart, clean it out and apply a bead of sealer to the rubber seal fitted to prevent water ingress. clean out air box of oil, make sure all rubber O rings are replaced on the breather pipes, going to the throttle box and intake and make sure the oil breather pipe is tightly sealed and not leaking air.
