Hi Chrissie, thanks for getting this discussion started - I know it should have been posted here in the first place, but at least by putting it in IWIWIW more people will have seen it and been able to contribute! My responses to your points are:

1 - Yes! People need something to put in their sigs ;)
2 - I know you tried this once, but maybe it was a little premature - could you start a poll with all the suggestions which have been put forward? Or alternatively, a couple of challenges could be run, on separate threads, so people have the choice?
3 - I am happy for you, or anyone (lol!) to run it. If you're willing to take it on, I'm sure people will appreciate it - it's probably good for a different person to take it on every year.
4 - Other people, maybe. Me, not in the slightest :D

I like the 'Olympic challenge' (Gold, Silver, Bronze) idea. I think 20, and even 12 in 2012 are a bit over ambitious for most people. It seems others like the £2012 idea too, so perhaps they could be run simultaneously, with an opt-out option, so people can do one or both? I don't fancy working out the monetary value of my prizes, as this isn't something I currently do, and it's not really about the price of the goods to me, but the personal value. But I realise others comp for a bit of extra income, and I've seen from people's signatures that some people do keep track in this way, so it would be good to offer the option.

    Thanks!

If I remember rightly. the £2012 challenge was suggested last year (but obviously it was £2011) and it was thought that it would just encourage people to enter anything and everything rather than prizes that were actually useful to them. It makes no odds to me, I don't tend to enter the challenges, it was just something that I recall from last year.

Just posted this over on the challenge discussion thread in IWIW, but thought I would put it here as well, hth

I know that one year Toni had one thread and I had one in IWIW as a sticky thanks to the BGs, after the original op dropped off running it but people wanted it to run, iyswim. it was hard work to maintain, so hats off to any willing[STRIKE] victims[/STRIKE] volunteers for 2012.

I can't see why there can't be a few different challenges, so would like to thank both Chrissie for bring up the idea of discussing what challenges may run in 2012, and to fortuna for collecting them together in this post.

Personally I love the Olympic tie in challenge myself :)

    Ideas so far:
    £2012 of prizes in 2012
12 months of the year prizes
This will be mine in 2012
Olympics gold silver and bronze prizes
Pimp yourselves in 2012 (pick something to pimp and what you need to achieve that)
Twenty Twelve (20 prizes you want in 2012)
Bingo 12 (prizes set out in a square first to get a line and full house)

    Any more?
I'll pm this to Glad on Christmas Eve for her to set it up after xmas so we can have a fair vote up to new years eve then someone can volunteer their services to maintain the thread
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

  • Does anyone have any good tips about entering the daily / weekly comps??? I use the enter/thanks button on the normal ones but that wont work here, the only idea i had was to do it at random,or set up a spreadsheet. Advice please

I thin a lot of people bookmark the dailies they want to enter and then just work their way through them every day.

I do this and works well - but I try and check the main thread once a week for any I have missed:)

    Hi, everyone

Thanks for the replies - very helpful

I am still half asleep and have to go out in a mo but have had one thought.

Reading the original thread, the first poll is showing a significant trend towards the 'Win £2012 in 2012' option. However the poll is not showing the true picture because I put in on too early and a number of people expressed a wish for a 'tougher' challenge like 'Win 20 in 2012'

Sooo - how would people feel about running (;)) with the Olympic theme?

    Gold = Win 20 in 2012
Silver = Win your own Gold, Silver, Bronze
    Bronze = Win £2012 in 2012

People who really want a challenge:eek: can aim to be an 'Olympic Champion' and do the lot or you can aim for just one medal - or combine two as some of us have already done?

People can let me know which they want to do, I will allocate a number then update as we go?

Will copy this onto the other thread then will have to go

    Laters, peeps:D

  • First thanks Chrissie57 for all your work over this challenge

I love the thought of the "Olympic Challenge" then we are able to chose to go for either gold, silver or bronze or all three which will be better for all the different compers how ever much comping they do. It would then be a real challenge for those who do a lot of comping too.

I am very happy for you to arrange it.

    Many thanks again:T
