  • A friend of mine won a competition that was for £4000 - was meant to arrive via cheque, today he found out that the company has gone into administration, I have just emailed to ask him what the company was but I am assuming the chances of him getting anything back from this are next to zero

Anyone else had any experience of prizes that have been won but the company has folded before it arrived?

    Hi

Sorry for the problems your friend's been having. The best advice would be for them to contact the Institute of Promotional Marketing complaints@theipm.org.uk, as they lay down the guidelines which comp organisers must follow.

I've used them a couple of times to follow up comps and missing prizes, etc, but not in these circumstances. Although the name on here is Edwin Mutton, I dealt with another couple of people there and they were both really helpful and sympathetic/empathetic to my situation. Please note, the IPM was formerly known as the Institute of Sales Promotion (name change in May 2010) however, the contact info does not appear to have changed.

Just checked and the last person I spoke with there was Magdalena - she was great.

    Good Luck :)

BTW I'll PM a Board Guide to move this into the Discussions thread

Wasnt sure where to put this but
i live very near a PO Box that is used for competition entries..(its at a large sorting office). If i hand deliver postal entries...would they get to the PO box?

    hiya JC
I don't know the answer to this but I have heard some companies say "they do NOT accept mail to PO boxes without them being stamped & franked by the post office".
My best advice would be to contact the company either by mail, email, twitter or facebook.
    Good Luck with it

That thread was more a discussion of what the challenge would be not the actual challenge thread. A thread hasn't been set up as the OP has had a few personal things and can't commit to updating it so everyone's just doing their own thing really.

hey firefly, I Love a website (free of course) called crossword solver. Put the number of letters and any clues you have into the box then work out which of the answers it could be! Otherwise those codebreakers have me stumped!
