I would contact as many local newspapers/publications as you can and get some experience. I did some work experience at the local newspaper when I got back from working abroad - I just rang them to arrange it in advance. A lad I went to school with did the same, working for a local newspaper at weekends, in the holidays etc. alongside college and uni, eventually got a full time job when he left and is now freelance for the big newspapers.
I'd keep going with your blog too, another girl I know did some work experience with Cosmo which her blog helped her get and they've now offered her a paid position. If you're running out of ideas, you can always make pinboards of products you like, write about products you want, take pics of cosmetic displays, put outfits together etc, or use samples or things such as Glossybox to get a few different products to write about. Get as much writing experience and make as many contacts as you can now.0
