Hyundai Getz - Can't open the boot!

Options
I bought a Hyundai Getz this week. I haven't been out in it much so far. Today I went to try to open the boot and I can't:o I'm turning the key but nothing seems to 'give'. I've tried to see if there is some sort of catch either on the external part of the boot or inside the car. It definitely opens as the guy at the garage I bought it from showed me.

Please help:o

Isn't there a catch behind the plastic strip above the number plate, exactly where the Hyundai badge is?

(the key hole will most likely only lock/unlock the boot, not open it)

That's what I can't seem to find. I'll have another look, thank you :)

There was a Getz in my work car park earlier too, I could've had a nose around it but it's gone now :(

I just assume it'll be similar to my Kia Picanto since that's essentially a shortened Getz.
  • I still can't seem to find it. I'm feeling terrible stupid right about now:o I need to go out - looks like I'll have to buy the Christmas tree another day. Thank you for trying to help.

You'll be able to access the boot by folding the back seats down if you're still stuck? :)

ours has a catch behind the plastic strip (as Kilty says), you pull it forward to release the boot.. however, it has been known to get stuck in the forward position before, so wouldn't be that obvious that it was there.. normally just takes a little bit of pressure and it'll flick back into place.

  • My boot was the same so pushed the handle back into the forward position and when I pulled it back it opened. But now even doing that does't work. I have sprayed a load of WD40 up there to see if this helps but looks like I will have to take it apart at some point at the weekend to fix.
    Very annoying...
Anybody with any other helpful suggestions...
