My Electricity bill seems ridiculous? Help!

  • Hi Jamez1988

As others have said, it's vital you find your electricity meter and check the readings.

Once you can tell us the actual readings, we'll be happy to re-bill your account accurately.

From the info posted, it looks as though you've an Economy 7 meter. The good news is a reasonable proportion of your usage is during the off peak times.

To benefit from Economy 7 and depending on the region, between 40 and 55 per cent of electricity needs to be used during off peak times. You're currently using significantly more than this during these hours.

Check your tariff. There's discounts available for paying with a Monthly Direct Debit and managing the account online.

Once you've found your meter and can see how much you're using, I'd pop the kWh on to the comparison sites. These will list out all your options, both with us and the other suppliers.

Something you can do straight away is to see if there's any way to cut back on the amount of electricity you're using. We can help with this.

Have a chat with our Energy Efficiency team. They specialise in helping people reduce their consumption. Give them a list of your appliances and they'll be happy to help.

Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful tips.

Check out our website, too; particularly the Interactive House and Energy Menu. More good advice here.

Hope this helps a little Jamez1988. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.
