Is that a 'Kocher' company? It doesnt say if it is registered with the FSA. It really amount to gambling on future exchange rates. I was going to pay my hotel bills with my credit card and I know that taking cash withdrawals would cost me dear. I might just sit back and see what happens! If they are offering £1=$2 for October they must have a crystal ball!

you should really think about opening the Nationwide Flex account. Debit or CC. No cash withdrawal fees and the 1.5% anywhere in the world.

I was in South America 2 years ago, £28 was spent taking money out 12 times.

$ may weaken futher on thursday but may also strenghten. if you can get $1.94 i say take it and you won,t be much dissapointed but you have to take into account next may is a long way off and that money could be earning intrest. i,m off in Sept so not to long a wait

Its A real gamble when it comes to buying now incase the dollar drops!! I spose at least if you buy now you know you have a good rate of exchange anyway!

Think I will be ordering £500 worth of dollars tonight, the rate at HSBC has dropped slightly to $1.92 to the £

I will get the rest of my dollars closer to the time as I have only £500 spare at the moment as I need to pay my holiday off soon

£ is creeping up again last few days.

was looking at a travel supplement from OCT and it was saying the rate was great for tourists at $1.81 !!!!

hopefully $2-£1 here is for a while but you are getting a hell of a lot of Bang for your buck at $1.92+ and i would be gutted if i missed the boat if your trip is the next few months. any longer i think you have to consider the amount buying and how intrest you would earn in a Icesave account.

i,m going to be living it up in New England in Oct whatever happens :rotfl:

  • Major British and European investors are currently making large investments in USA companies. This is due to the current strong exchange rate and there is an expected future upturn in the US economy.

These guys are investing millions on advice of their sages. Their guess is the exchange rate isn't going to get much better than $2 to a £ so this could be the time for you too. Bear in mind you can't always buy at the bottom or sell at the top. Be happy if you're close to it - you'll become a millionaire;) .

If exchanging reasonably large sums of $'s and £'s; I have found Barclays International excellent and will give you 'spot' rate - ie commercial rate, which is much better than tourist rates.
