Marrakech on a budget...ideas/tips/suggestions please

Hi All,

I have booked a trip to Marrakech for me and OH in the New Year. I've booked it as a surprise xmas present so wanted some budget ideas for things to do / places to go (food, spa etc).

Any tips greatly appreciated.

just back from Marrakech, second visit and love it.

Get yourself a good riad to stay in - we stayed in one for £50 per night bed and breakfast which was really good. You can get a bus from the airport into the town for a few pence (can't remember but I think it was 20 dhm per person). We had a trip in a horse and carriage around the medina, that cost 200 dhm which is about 15 euro I think. Food is cheap if you stay off the main tourist places. Haggling in the souk is fun, although the traffic is a bit crazy.

Thank you - I'm getting excited now. We've booked a Riad - hoping it will be ok, it's pretty cheap but has nice reviews in trip advisor so should be good! It's a little further out I think, but still in the medina.
